Features of AspireUS
User registration. Only registered subscribers can use AspireUS. Once registered, each subscriber is given a unique username and password which are required to login to the system. This secures your crop information and limits access to your asparagus crop’s database. (AspireUS Registration)
Field registration. Subscribers to AspireUS may register as many asparagus fields as they like. A new subscriber must register at least one field, and new fields can be added at any time. Each field must be given a unique name and its number of acres stated when it is registered, and the name must be used in all subsequent contacts with AspireUS which relate to that field.
Sampling instructions. The secure section of the AspireUS website contains detailed instructions about how to sample root systems and measure the Brix%. The system administrator is available to help solve any problems that may arise. Registration does not include root sampling to measure Brix%. The grower or other trained professionals do the sampling and measurements.
CHO evaluation. This is the key feature of AspireUS. Once a field has been sampled and measured, the Brix% values are entered into the website and the results are evaluated. A report is generated that includes the CHO content and comments regarding the crop and field management options. The system administrator is available to help you understand the content of the reports.
Database. The database retains all information about each registered field for future reference thus creating a record of field performance.
Crop diary. The database includes a diary feature that subscribers can use to record information about each registered field. All CHO evaluation reports generated for the field by AspireUS are retained automatically in the diary.
Information retrieval. Subscribers to AspireUS can retrieve information at any time to check the effects of management decisions on short or long-term field performance.
Computer technology. The AspireUS system uses Java-based servlet/JSP and JDBC technology couples with a MS SQL Server database to provide its functionality.
Internet browser compatability. AspireUS has been optimised for use with Internet Explorer, although it can be accessed with recent versions of any of the standard Internet browsers (see Internet Browser).
How to register: Complete the User Registration Form and return it to Dr Dan Drost with the appropriate payment. You will then be provided with a username and password which will be operational on the AspireUS website.
